I would like to know how erecting a monstrous building on Budleigh Salterton seafront can fulfil the requirements of an Area Outstanding Natural Beauty, as spouted by Mrs Patricia Firth in your letters page last week.

While I appreciate you had a blockbuster of a crab sandwich the last time you were at the Longboat, we locals have a much more pressing issue on our hands - that being the ruination of our wonderful coastline and sea views.
While I in no way want to belittle the paramount importance of a good crab 'sarny', I do draw your attention to the larger picture, that the new Longboat restaurant will more than likely tear the said sandwich, kicking and screaming, from the menu and then you would have no crab and a rather ugly man-made carbuncle in its place.
