FOLLOWING recent letters regarding my comments during a council debate on Lidl, I apologise if people were offended concerning the roads in the Withycombe Raleigh ward near to the proposed store. This is an area where, while canvassing at election time, I have found problems caused by low incomes, which are not evident in most other parts of the Withycombe Raleigh ward. It is also the area from where I receive telephone calls about social problems. I did not say that all people in this area of Exmouth were on low income. However, this is an area where a large proportion of low-income families live.I did not mention the Littleham estate as I was giving the Littleham councillors the opportunity to mention this area.Malcolm Mitchell,Town Councillor,Withycombe Raleigh Ward
