PLANS have been submitted to district planners to demolish a house and build more apartments on The Avenues. The owners of 6 Portland Avenue have submitted a proposal to demolish the existing house and erect a detached apartment building in its place.District councillors have received 11 letters of objection highlighting problems of road parking, the sewerage problems and overdevelopment of The Avenues.A petition was signed by 26 residents of Manor Lodge care home believing it would have a negative impact on the nursing home.District and ward member for Littleham Mark William-son previously said: "I am wholly opposed to the demolition of 6 Portland Avenue and its replacement with yet another apartment block. The current villa is of inherent architectural worth and makes an important contribution to the street scene."The plans will be considered by district planners next week.
