Access to and from Exmouth Community Hospital will be restricted for several days from Monday, January 11, due to work to replace a main gas pipe.

During this period, hospital managers are asking patients and visitors to allow extra time for parking or to make alternative travel arrangements. The work is scheduled to be completed by January 20.

Tina Slade, of the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “This is essential work and we apologise for any delays or disruption it may cause.”

During the work, the main exit drive from the hospital will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians, with barriers put up as necessary.

The central area of the car park in front of and behind the annexe will be open for patients only.

A one-way system will be in operation from the main entrance past Clarepharm into the main body of the car park and exiting into Turner Avenue. There will be no parking as vehicles enter the one-way system from the main road, outside of Clarepharm or on double yellow lines up to the medical centre.

The car park area outside the main entrance will be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
