WORK to complete Hospiscare's new extension in Exeter has finished two weeks ahead of schedule, the charity has announced.The building work has extended and revamped Hospiscare's day centre which cares for 15 patients a day, providing a number of therapies and activities in a social environment. The new centre was able to go ahead when the charity was awarded a £700,000 grant from the Department of Health. The charity has yet to furnish the suite of rooms, which includes two complementary therapy rooms, activity rooms with their own kiln, a hairdressers' salon, two large spaces for group activities and a coffee bar. It is expected to open to patients in mid-August, once it is fully fitted out. Hospiscare's Chief Executive, Glynis Atherton, said: "We are really pleased to have the facility available earlier than we thought, and are looking forward to having day centre patients and staff back on site.
