Hospiscare has received a donation of nearly £5,000 after a fundraising effort by Budleigh gardeners.

The money was raised in last month’s Hospiscare Open Gardens event, the first to be held in the town, with nine gardens taking part.

It was the culmination of nearly a year’s work by organiser Sharon Rehbock and her fellow gardeners, and £4,852 has now been presented to the charity.

Hospiscare community fundraiser Tracey Skinner said: “The feedback from visitors was really positive and we are delighted with the amount raised.”

Any gardeners who would like to take part next year, however large or small their garden, should ring Sharon on 01395 444031.

She will be arranging a get together for potential volunteers to learn more about what’s involved.
