Philip Ryan, described as a ‘gentle and loving husband’, from Westward Ho! was found dead in Honiton on Tuesday and police have charged a man with his murder.

A Westward Ho! man has been named as the victim of a fatal stabbing in Honition on Tuesday.

Philip Ryan, 55, was found dead at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Dowell Street, Honiton.

Keith Beviss, 54, from Honiton, was arrested later that day and was last night charged with the murder of Mr Ryan.

Mr Ryan’s family have released a short statement paying tribute to him.

It reads: “Philip was a very kind, gentle and loving husband who will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

“We are in a state of shock. There aren’t any words to describe our pain.”

They thanked the Jehovah’s witness community for their support and asked for privacy at this time.

Mr Beviss is due to appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday).
