Self confessed ‘mad hatter’ Terry Darville is to add some colour to Exmouth for this year’s art trail when he decorates a tree with more than 100 pieces of headwear.

Top hats, morning hats, ponchos and sun hats are just some of the items the 73-year-old retired hairdresser, of Adelaide Court, will be displaying outside his home on the corner of Carlton Hill and Louisa Place.

Terry, who hung upside down umbrellas and model hot air balloons in the same spot for the art trail in 2016, said: “It’s nice to put a smile on people’s faces.

“When I moved here three years ago, the bed was neglected so I looked after it with different flowers and themed decorations every year.

“I love the art trail.

“Its good for Exmouth and it’s a wonderful promotion for the town.

“If everyone did a little bit it would make it an even more wonderful place.”

The Exmouth Art Trail takes place from Saturday, May 27, to Saturday, June 3.
