After a fundraising effort by Friends of Exmouth Library and a donation from the Freemasons, the library was able to make some improvements to the area dedicated to Exmouth’s younger generation.
The refurbishment of the children’s area is the first phase of improvements planned for the library.
There is a now a big sofa, a new rug, seats and shelving units for more books.
A Gruffalo story sack has also been installed prompting this themed party.
The Gruffalo is a book written by Julia Donaldson 18 years ago and has been one of the most popular childrens’ tales.
Beatrice Coveney, senior library supervisor said: “More than 70 children and their families came to our Gruffalo party where we ran three storytelling sessions, and some craft activities.”
A storytelling session for pre-school children takes place in the library every Monday morning at 9.30am.
