Coastwatch volunteers are among the beneficiaries of the latest round of funding grants approved by Exmouth Town Council.

At this week’s meeting, councillors approved grants of £500 to Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton Scout Group; £750 to Health and Local Food for Families; up to £2,000 to the National Coastwatch Institution for work on its tower; £450 to Exmouth Pride; and £1,500 per year for three years to Exmouth Beach Rescue Club.

An application from Age Concern Exmouth was rejected, as councillors felt the charity had enough money available from its own funds without council support.

An application for £300 towards town crier Roger Bourgein’s trip to attend the 2017 Bermuda International Town Crier Competition was also rejected, however, councillors said £130 left over in the town crier’s expenses budget could be used for this.
