MEMBERS of the public are invited to take part in a green awareness day at a supported housing project in Imperial Road project next Friday (December 12).

Tenants of the 23-flat Alexandra House Supported Housing Project will be trying to raise awareness by making the day a car free day, and inviting residents to join them in turning of all electrical appliances and sit in candlelight from 5pm to 7pm.

They will also be going out in the cold for a beach clean at lunchtime, with equipment, bags and gloves supplied by East Devon District Council.

Manager Lisa Gibbons said: "There are lots of beach cleans in the summer but few in the winter - and on Christmas Day and New Years Day it is very popular.

"We wanted to do something raise awareness of green issues. We would love people to join us."

Lisa can be contacted on: (01395) 279702.
