The photo special of guiding in Exmouth of yesteryear was lovely to see in last week’s edition of the Journal.
Exmouth, and its surrounding districts, has a great tradition of guiding.
There have been units meeting for nearly 100 years in the town. Next year we will be celebrating brownies’ 100th birthday with a year full of exciting activities.
If any of your readers looked at the photos with fond memories of their time in guiding, or perhaps, thinking that they had missed out, they might be interested to hear that it is not too late to get involved in guiding.
We are a very active division of Devon Guiding with 21 units of rainbows, brownies and guides meeting in Budleigh Salterton, Lympstone, Woodbury as well as Exmouth. We welcome new girls young and old as members of our units or as volunteers to help us keep guiding in Exmouth going for another 100 years. They can visit www.girlguiding.org.uk/interested and register their interest in volunteering or to join as a young member.
There is more information on the website or they can email email@example.com. We’d also be pleased to hear from anyone who was involved in brownies in Exmouth in the past to help us compile a collection of guiding memories for our centenary year.
