It must be nice to be a Liberal for the 12 days of Christmas (ref Tim Dumper s letter, December 13). All that gently falling snow, twinkling lights and love songs on a pastel coloured stage set.

It must be nice to be a Liberal for the 12 days of Christmas (ref Tim Dumper's letter, December 13). All that gently falling snow, twinkling lights and love songs on a pastel coloured stage set.

It must be terrible to be a Liberal when you wake up on the 13th day and have to face the harsh realities of serious politics. Will I engage the Regional Spatial Strategy? (No, even if it means goodbye to jobs and affordable homes.) Will I accept that there are costs involved with regeneration? (Rather not - might mean the cold steel of unpopularity.)

So another duvet day, please.

In the true spirit of Christmas, can I wish Tim, my Liberal opponents, the Journal reporters (yes, seriously), all your readers and, importantly, the good folk of Littleham a happy and peaceful Christmas and a festive New Year.
