Two Exmouth tourist attractions are celebrating after being named as the best in Devon.

World of Country Life and Stuart Line Cruises were both recognised by the judges of the Visit Devon Awards.

World of Country Life was named as Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, and Stuart Line was named as Small Visitor Attraction of the Year.

Reacting to their success, both businesses said they hoped their recognition would encourage more people to visit Exmouth.

World of Country Life manager James Turner added: “It’s absolutely fantastic for us. We thought we were doing the right things, but it’s confirmation to us that what we are doing is excellent.

“It’s down to the efforts of the entire team, who work hard every day to make sure all our visitors have a fantastic experience. “

Stuart Line Cruises owner Philippa Stuart said: “We were shocked when we realised we had achieved a gold. These awards are something to be very proud of and something for the people of Exmouth to be proud of.”

The Exmouth attractions’ success also means that they will now be fast-tracked into the Devon Excellence Awards in the new year, which could lead to further entry in the national Visit England Awards in 2015.
