AIRING your dirty laundry took on a whole new meaning when an Exmouth woman took part in the new Gok Wan TV show filmed in Manor Gardens.

Lucky Exmothian Ann-Marie James, of Littlemead Lane, hung up her entire wardrobe on a washing line in Manor Gardens on Friday, April 3, for fashion guru Gok Wan's new TV Show Gok's Fashion Fix.

To the amazement of residents, the Channel Four star spent four hours filming episode six of the new show - but as youngsters mobbed him to get his autograph he was quickly packed away into a limousine.

The 46-year-old had a wardrobe bursting with clothes kept from past decades but nothing to wear, so she called Channel Four and asked to be "fixed by Gok".

Ann-Marie, a practice manager at Martineu Chiropractic Clinics in Exmouth, said: "They were looking for real women to take part in the show who had too many clothes but nothing to wear and that was me.

"He was so lovely and fantastic as he gave advice and went through my clothes throwing them away - I had 400 feet of clothing hung up and by the end of it I had less than 20 per cent left.

"It was cathartic as I would never have done it without Gok."

When Ann-Marie was whizzed away to Exeter before filming, little did she know that Gok would hang her entire wardrobe in Manor Gardens.

As part of the show Gok advised her on how to dress for her size and shape and gave advice on how to shop less and choose key items without wasting what hangs in the wardrobe.

The presenter, of shows such as How To Look Good Naked, helped her rediscover her personal style by downsizing her closet and divulging tips for looking on-trend and fantastic every day.

Ann-Marie is now looking forward to the next filming day, when she is whisked away to a makeover parlour to complete her new look and given all the clothes that Gok picks out for her.

Gok's Fashion Fix will air on Tuesday, April 14.
