Plans for a temporary car park on Exmouth seafront have been given the green light.
An application for a facility with 13 spaces, a barrier and a ticket machine was approved by East Devon District Council’s development management committee.
The development will use the land at the back of Exmouth Rowing Club, in Queen’s Drive, until the plans for the future of the wider regeneration area are finalised.
The application is for the car park to be in place for three years.
During the meeting, concerns were voiced about a tree on the site and councillors agreed to ask officers to consider placing a Tree Preservation Order on it.
Ward councillor Bruce De Saram said: “This application is an interim measure to provide public facilities for three years, using temporary structures and on existing ground surfacing.
“The research clearly states the proposals maintain the character and appearance of the conservation area.”
