The latest Stagecoach bus service revisions almost leave Exmouth as a town with a bus station where no buses call. This is far from the original plan of creating a transport interchange between bus and rail as part of the estuary regeneration scheme - but mention of this seems to have disappeared from the latest glossy proposals. It is surely time for Exmouth to call on Devon County Council - the authority responsible for bus travel, and owner of the bus station - to use its powerful position to persuade the bus company to give us a better deal. We should point to the other trunk services, like those from Exeter to Teignmouth and Cullompton/ Tiverton, which have received considerable financial backing from the county council, with new buses and improvement of services. Why does this not apply to The Exe corridor? Meanwhile, they should also consider help for what is becoming a very overcrowded railway - which does, however, get you to Exeter Central, irrespective of traffic jams, in under 25 minutes!Richard Giles, Kilntop, Lympstone.
