AN EIGHT-year-old girl and her father were rescued by Exmouth coastguards after they were both swept out to sea in Budleigh Salterton.
Kerys Nash, from Exeter, had been boogie boarding in the river Otter last Tuesday, August 25, but encountered troubles in the water.
Her dad, Adam Nash, 29, rushed into the sea but with a strong outgoing tide they were swept further out.
The Exmouth inshore lifeboat were called at 12.26pm and the volunteer crew reached the youngster and her father within ten minutes.
Adam, happy to be back safe on dry land, said: "The response time was quick and it's great to see that the system works so well. We thank everyone involved.
