The annual celebration of business excellence, sponsored by the Exmouth Journal, will take place at Exmouth’s Ocean on Friday, May 18, with an official breakfast launch event planned at the venue’s Sea View Suite on Tuesday, February 20, starting at 7am.

Awards organiser Exmouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce will outline the criteria behind each award, along with how to nominate your business.

Chamber of commerce chairman Ian MacQueen said: “This is the sixth year that we have held these fabulously successful awards.

“The chamber and the Journal fully expect that the 2018 ceremony will surpass all previous events and enable local businesses to gain some tremendous free publicity and prestige from entering the awards.”

This year’s categories (see panel, right) include a new category for best hair and beauty business.

Nigel Wilkinson, the chamber’s former chairman, said: “The Exmouth Business Awards continue to grow and develop.

“The introduction of the hair and beauty category is something businesses asked for, and based on the high standard of previous entries it’s going to be a fantastic and hard-fought competition.

“I can’t wait for May 18 to come around.”

The Journal is also delighted to continue its association with the awards as media partner for 2018.

South West group editor Andy Keeble said: “Last year’s awards were fantastic, showcasing the diverse range of talented, hard-working, imaginative and successful local firms that are helping to contribute to Exmouth’s economy.

“We look forward to this year’s awards, and helping to publicise the admirable work that so many local businesses are doing for the town.”

In the build-up to this year’s awards, each week we’ll be profiling one of last year’s winning businesses, along with articles about the firms sponsoring specific categories.

We’ll also be publishing details about how to nominate your business.

The awards’ official launch and further information will appear on the Chamber’s website and in the Journal in mid-February.
