Gardens cafe gets alcohol licence

A new café in the Manor Gardens will be able to serve alcohol, after its licensing application was approved by East Devon District Council.

The café, which will be opening in the old Tourist Information Centre building, had already received planning permission.

Now the licence, which includes the sale of alcohol between 11am and 8.30pm, seven days a week, has been granted by councillors.

The licence was granted despite objections from Exmouth Town Council, which questioned whether alcohol sales should be encouraged in the Manor Gardens.

However, EDDC backed the plan, following mediation talks between the applicant and Devon and Cornwall police.
