Gardeners’ questions to be answered in Sidmouth for charity

Preparations are well advanced at Sidmouth Garden Centre for their Gardeners Question Time on Thursday, April 7.

The event is organised by the Sid Valley Rotary Club and the Garden Centre, with proceeds going to ShelterBox and the Devon Air Ambulance.

The Garden Centre will welcome visitors from 7pm with complementary refreshments. The centre will be open for business and there will be a light-hearted quiz on general gardening topics while guests gather for the main event with a chance to win a garden voucher.

There will be a knowledgeable group of experts to answer your questions. The panel will be chaired by David Jackson, managing director of Jackson Plants. Panel members will be Darren Knapman, plants manager at the Sidmouth Garden Centre; Ben Morrel, who lectures in amenity horticulture at Bicton College; Janet Hindley, who lectures in design and ornamental gardening at Bicton College; and Adam Powell, who trained at Pershore college and now runs the very successful Adams Apples, fruit tree suppliers at Plymtree near Honiton.

The panel will answer gardening questions asked on the night, or emailed in advance to david@jacksonplants.co.uk. All questions sent in advance will be entered into a prize draw for garden vouchers.

James Trevett, the manager of the Garden Centre said: “We are planning an interesting and informative evening that will benefit two leading charities.”

A limited number of tickets are still available for 10 from the Sidmouth Garden Centre; Coles, on Sidmouth High Street; and Palmers, Whitton and Laing at Budleigh Salterton.
