THE resurgent Exmouth Garden Club is opening its doors to new members in the lead-up to its autumn show later this month.Their annual flower, fruit and vegetable show at the Elizabeth Hall returns after a one-year hiatus on August 30.The show will display in 95 classes ranging from floral decoration to vegetable and pot plants, a 'young generation' section, and even a novice class for newcomers - something for the whole family.Chairman Noel Allen admitted interest in the club had waned - last year there was no show. But a renewed interest in gardening, horticulture and home grown produce - there is a record three-year waiting list for Exmouth's near 400 allotments - has followed with the return of this year's show. He added: "The show has been well served over the years by many people of the town."This is Exmouth's only flower and vegetable show. It is a show not only for the members of the Garden Club but for the people of Exmouth, not only to view and enjoy but to exhibit."The free show is on Saturday, August 30, at the Elizabeth Hall, from midday to 4.30pm, and the club meets at 7.30pm on the last Tuesday of every month at All Saints Church Hall, Exeter Road.If you are interested in the show or the club, contact Noel Allen on: (01395) 272707.
