Behind the lens with Exmouth Photo Group’s longest serving member

In focus: We take a look at the work by Exmouth Photo Group’s longest-standing member: John Perriam.
This month, we showcase the work of one of the club’s most successful members: John Perriam ARPS DPAGB AFIAP.
John is Exmouth Photo Group’s longest standing member, having joined in 1975, and was made Honorary President in 2016. During his time with the club, he has held a number of official posts, including that of chairman.
John’s photographic interests cover a very wide range and include producing prints and audiovisual sequences from his work. Most club members have a particular interest, and John’s is making ‘creative’ images, which can often involve composites from several different photos.
He believes there is so much more to be gained from being a member of a good club rather than pursuing an interest in photography on your own, such as sharing experiences with like-minded people and appreciating a far wider range of topics than you might get from a magazine, for example. Also, it can be less about equipment and more about the end result.
The Photo Group has a number of well-supported sub-groups, including a Print Group and Audio Visual (AV) Group. John leads the Digital Image Discussion Group, where members can get help and advice on achieving the best from their work and learn new techniques. He is looking forward to hopefully seeing new members join the club in 2019.
Exmouth Photo Group meets every Wednesday evening in Exmouth Community College. Full details are on their website: www.exmouthphotogroup.com. New members are always welcome!
