A scheme which helps older people in the community is encouraging people to find out more about getting involved.

The Neighbourhood Friends project supports people over 75 in Exmouth, Budleigh and surrounding villages, by sending volunteers to their homes to help with tasks. With winter approaching, the project, which receives funding from the Cabinet Office, is seeking more volunteers, and is holding a series of information events.

The events are as follows: Woodbury Village Hall, October 13, 2.30pm to 3.30pm; Littleham Community Hall, October 16, 11am to noon; Knowle Village Hall, October 19, 2.30pm to 3.30pm; Budleigh Peter Hall, October 20, 5.30pm to 6.30pm; Otterton Village Hall, October 21, 6pm to 7pm; Brixington Church Hall, October 23, 10am to 11am.

Volunteers can give as little or as much time as they like, with full training and volunteer support provided. The project is also looking for people over the age of 75 who may benefit from its services.
