The police were called to Midway at 10pm to help paramedics after a member of the public reported concerns for the welfare of a 37-year-old local man who was believed to have cut himself.
When the man made off before the police arrived, a sniffer dog and police handler was sent to track along a lane leading onto the John Hudson cycle path towards the town - before turning their attention to Bidmead Close, Littleham Road and Jarvis Close.
