I refer to Paul Wheeler's letter in last week's Journal regarding Frank Farr. While I did not read Frank's letter in the July 24 issue, I felt I had to respond to Mr Wheeler's remarks.First of all, Frank is a much-loved and respected man in East Budleigh, who has lived most of his life in the village. His knowledge of the countryside and 'bygone' days is second to none and he is always ready and happy to sit down and have a chat. His business of growing plants and vegetables is a credit to him - and it will be a sad day for us all when - and if - he finally 'hangs up his boots' and retires!I think we should be proud of having such a character in our village and to make a remark that his business 'creates a traffic hazard' is preposterous.Frank does have a point with regard to some newcomers who move into the village and then complain about the noise of the church bells, the noise of the cockerels' crowing and even the smell of cows.I do hope that if Mr Wheeler ever reaches the grand old age of 89 that we may forgive him should he 'ramble on'.Mary Vaughan,East Budleigh Resident.
