GOOD weather and a mix of colourful stalls proved a winner for the new Four Corners Market, held recently for four days on Exmouth's Strand.

Organised by Thomas Kefford – the man behind the Continental Market at Easter, which returns to Exmouth in August – the Four Corners Market was a blend of traders from home and abroad.

“Our plan – when we started this – was that we could incorporate English traders into what we were doing,” said Mr Kefford. “So we were looking for a different name. And I thought of the Four Corners of the Earth. So that’s the reason for the Four Corners. We’re going to try and blend it all in together.”

The new market was held from Thursday, June 27-Sunday, July 1.

“The weather was very good and a big help to us,” said Mr Kefford. “It was the first time we’ve tried the Sunday, and it was quite good.”

Stalls included sweets, bakery, a deli, jewellery, baskets and a distinctive Airstream trailer, incorporating a coffee stand.

More traders are promised at the next Continental Market, due to take place on Exmouth’s Strand from Thursday, August 22-Saturday, August 24.
