Fans of Captain Mainwaring, George Formby, Glenn Miller, Vera Lynn, Doris Day can honour their heroes when two special Forties Fanfare nights hit Budleigh Salterton.
The events are being planned for the spring 2011 and organiser Steve Andrews is keen to hear from anyone interested in taking part.
He said: “I really want this to be Budleigh’s own homage to a fabulous decade.
“At the beginning, much of the music and humour was an attempt to stay cheerful in the most awful circumstances. By the end, however, people had re-discovered the joy of entertainment for its own sake.”
Anyone interested in playing a host of 40s characters is asked to get in touch.
The Forties Fanfare evenings take place on April 2 -3 in the Public Hall and promise song, music and dance, with numbers such as Don’t Sit under the Apple Tree Mairzy Doats and Anything you can do.
Solo and chorus singers, dancers and actors are needed to help create a series of cabaret acts.
Mr Andrews said: “All ages are welcome, not only those who actually remember the 40s but anyone else who has been entertained by Dad’s Army, ‘Allo ‘Allo or Foyle’s War.
“We promise a great evening with a 40s meal thrown in - and not just spam fritters.”
