Children from Exmouth got the chance to learn outdoor skills, thanks to an event held at Withycombe Raleigh Primary School.

Youngsters were given the chance to get together to build dens and cook marshmallows over a camp fire at Withycombe’s forest school.

HMS School Heroes Exmouth, which has more than 40 members at the school, put on the event.

The organisation aims to to support service and veterans’ children and young people. It also works actively to ensure that every member has a voice and is able to use it for the benefit of all.

Christine Doe, of HMS School Heroes, said the children really enjoyed it.

She said: “They absolutely loved it. It was really good for some of the children who had the chance to spend time with their parents before they go away on duty.

“It was a nice occasion.”
