REGARDING a proposed development in Woodville Road, Exmouth. 'Infilling' in The Colony, Exmouth - that is to say changing dwelling houses into multiple occupation properties - is already causing many problems and the practice should be ceased forthwith. The two main problems are sewage disposal and parking. The latter has been addressed many times by many people, the former is by some miracle apparently being ignored. Yet officers from East Devon District Council and South West Water have met many times in The Colony to observe sewage seeping into roads, but have not come up with any solution, bar batting the responsibilty back to and fro between their respective offices.Responsibilty must be shouldered by someone. There has to be someone to accept the legal responsibilty for homes in the area being rendered uninhabitable by being flooded with storm water and sewage, as will surely happen if yet more pressure is placed on this antiquated system. The council is being asked to approve an 'infilling' plan in respect of a family home in Woodville Road, Exmouth. I am asking councillors to refuse that plan and every subsequent similar plan for anywhere in the lower reaches of the town. Failing a refusal, please determine who has the ultimate responsibility for safeguarding our environs in order that we will know on whom to serve the writs. This is a very grave matter, one that must now be treated with all due seriousness without so much as a hint of buck-passing. Ann Prior, 75 Egremont Road, Exmouth.
