Town councillors have agreed to pay for children at St Peter’s Primary School to undergo first aid training.

The school had asked the council to make a donation towards the course, which will be aimed at some of its older pupils.

The session will be run by St John Ambulance.

In a letter to the council, headteacher Steve Hitchcock said: “This would fit into our curriculum very well.

“It would be very beneficial for them to learn as a life skill.”

Town councillors voted in favour of paying the whole £108 cost of the course, which is due to take place at the school later this year.
