Firefighters tackled a gorse blaze on Woodbury Common on Saturday evening, which engulfed a 40m x 40m area of scrub
Firefighters were called to the common at 5pm where they found a 40m x 40m area of scrub well alight.
The fire crews used beaters, one hose reel and foam to tackle the blaze.
The incident command vehicle, from Exmouth, and the hose layer, from Honiton, also attended the incident.
Eye witnesses said the fire was spread by strong north-westerly winds and tinder dry vegetation.
The blaze broke out on the same site as the large-scale fire in April.
Witness Mo Bowman said: “I was on the commons for the first time in six weeks, recording the slow recovery of places that I photographed during and immediately after the springtime fire.
“I smelt burning, and my husband Clive saw the plume of smoke and called the fire brigade.”
