Firefighters from Exmouth teamed up with the RSPCA to rescue a sick fox trapped beneath a garden shed in Colleton Close.

The animal charity alerted the emergency services on Sunday afternoon because the fox had been trapped under the shed for 36 hours.

Watch commander Nigel Snowshall said the crew lifted the shed and the fox was captured with a specialist animal noose. It was then transferred to an RSPCA wildlife sanctuary.

“The fox had tried to get out from under the shed but it hadn’t been able to do so,” Mr Snowshall said.

A fire service spokesperson said: “The crew worked alongside the RSPCA officer to release the fox, using small tools.”
