Fire on Woodbury Common

EIGHT fire engines were called to Woodbury Common on Saturday afternoon when a gorse fire broke out. Fire crews from Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Topsham, Sidmouth and Exeter used one water jet, two foam jets and beaters to tackle the two-acre blaze. The

EIGHT fire engines were called to Woodbury Common on Saturday afternoon when a gorse fire broke out.

Fire crews from Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Topsham, Sidmouth and Exeter used one water jet, two foam jets and beaters to tackle the two-acre blaze.

The firefighters spent an hour bringing the fire under control.

The hose layer, incident support vehicle, aerial platform and water foam carrier were also used at the scene.
