An abandoned campfire found on Woodbury Common resulted in four fire crews attending the scene.

Firefighters were called to Woodbury Common on Sunday morning after an abandoned campfire was discovered by a passer-by.

Crews from Exmouth, Topsham and Exeter damped down the small fire, which was found near the model airfield car park.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The caller was in attendance on arrival to guide crews to the abandoned campfire. “Upon arrival crews discovered small fire and set about turning out and damping down.

“Fire control contacted Clinton Devon Estates to inform them of the fire. No attendance was required by them at this time.”
