HORSE DRAMA: Fire crews were called out on Friday, February 22, to a horse trapped in a horsebox at Bicton Arena.
One fire appliance from Exmouth attended, along with a specialist rescue team from service headquarters, which released the animal.
GARAGES: Plans have been submitted to build garages at two Budleigh Salterton homes.
The owners of 7 Bedlands Lane and 5A Cliff Terrace have both put forward applications, which will now be considered by the town council, before East Devon District Council makes the final decision.
CRIME TALLY: Budleigh police have published their latest monthly crime report for the town.
Ten crimes were reported during the past month, including two burglaries, two cases of criminal damage to vehicles, a case of vandalism, an assault and a public order offence, along with two child protection and one domestic non-crimes.
JUMBLE SALE: Little Otters Pre-school is holding a fundraising jumble sale.
It takes place this Saturday at East Budleigh Village Hall between 10am and noon. Admission will cost 50p, and teas and coffees and a cake stall will be available. All proceeds will go towards pre-school resources.
ART MOVE: Budleigh Salterton Town Council has approved a request by Fairlynch Museum to use artwork by Joyce Denny in its publicity material.
The art is owned by the council, and currently kept at the museum. The council is also considering a request to nominate a trustee to stand on the museum committee.
CAR PARK BID: Budleigh Salterton Town Council is still waiting to hear from East Devon District Council regarding its bid to buy Upper Station Road car park.
Mayor Courtney Richards told councillors: “Asset management from EDDC has apparently met to discuss the car park, and will be writing to us shortly.”
COFFEE BREAK: The East Budleigh Village Activities Group is holding its latest coffee morning at the church hall on Tuesday (March 5) between 10am and noon. It is free to attend, and various activities are available.
POLICE CALL: The next Budleigh Salterton policing surgery is being held at the town’s police station on March 8 between 6pm and 7pm.
This will be your chance to discuss local policing issues with PCSO Chantalle Major or PC Simon Evans.
An East Budleigh policing surgery will then be held on the following day, March 9, at 1pm, at the information point at the village hall. If you are unable to attend but have an issue to raise, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the police non-emergency number 101.
