Fire crews were called out to reports of a fire in a light fitting at an Exmouth town centre shop.

Two fire appliances from Exmouth and one from Middlemoor attended Panter and Son Ltd in The Parade on Saturday, October 1, at 4.30pm.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a thermal image camera to deal with the incident. Shop owner Roger Panter said a light fitting had tripped the smoke alarm, but it was ‘a very minor incident’, there was no damage, and the shop was open as usual.
