Members of Exmouth in Bloom are hoping the town has done itself proud on the national stage, following a visit by Britain in Bloom judges.
Exmouth was selected to represent the South West in the national contest, for the first time since 2008.
The judges visited the Pavilion and Beach Gardens, the marina, the town centre, The Maer, allotments, Marpool Primary School, Phear Park and Manor Gardens.
Exmouth in Bloom chairman Ann Wheeler said: “The key criteria are horticultural achievement, community participation and environmental responsibility, demonstrated across public spaces, as well as natural spaces, including conservation areas.
“Each entry’s final score also takes into account a range of complementary factors, from the condition of street furniture to the engagement of young people in bloom activities.
“We think it went well, despite the rain, thanks to the efforts of the bloom committee and helpers, Streetscene and Exmouth Town Council, and many other supporters.
“It’s been an honour to represent the South West in the category of large coastal town with significant tourism.”
Other entrants in the category are Bournemouth, Deal, Great Yarmouth, Southport and St Peter Port.
The results of Britain in Bloom are announced on October 14.
