District council bosses say they are committed to releasing previously confidential documents relating to their relocation plans.

Councillor Paul Diviani, leader of East Devon District Council (EDDC), said that final paperwork relating to the authority’s sale of its offices at Knowle, Sidmouth, would be in the public domain ‘very shortly’.

EDDC plans to move to offices at Exmouth Town Hall and Honiton’s Heathpark. Cllr Diviani’s comments came after Councillor Marianne Rixson asked why, despite first raising the issue in May, classified documents from the later stages of the project had still not been released.

EDDC has already published previously confidential reports and minutes of private meetings relating to its move. But the paper trail only runs to the end of July 2015.

Responding to Cllr Rixson’s question, Cllr Diviani said: “We have released all of the documentation up until the end of last month and we are now in the process of doing the final documents, which I think is a remarkable achievement bearing in mind the sheer volume of paperwork involved. The final documents will be in the public domain very, very shortly.”
