EXMOUTH firefighters have issued a safety warning after a fence caught fire in Littleham.
The crew was last week called to Littleham Road where they found a garden fence on fire after hot ashes removed from a bonfire set the wood alight.
Crew manager Giles White urged residents to dispose of hot ashes carefully.
He said: "During this very warm and dry spell the chances of causing fires is extremely heightened, so if disposing of bonfire remnants or barbeques please make sure that fire has been fully extinguished before putting into rubbish bins.
"Members of the public should take extreme care whether they are at home or outdoors - as recent fires on Woodbury Common have shown how dry conditions are."
