EXMOUTH award-winning young adults' author Mal Peet this week celebrated the launch of his new book, Exposure. The 2005 Carnegie Medal-winning author met his fans during an evening at Exeter's Waterstones on Monday.Praise from the critics has already begun pouring in for Mal's latest novel, Exposure - a story inspired by Shakespeare's Othello, which gives an insight into the world of celebrity and the people who control it.The novel tells the story of football, celebrity, sex, racism, lies and murder and is the third novel to feature Paul Faustino, South America's top sports journalist - who watches from the sidelines at the media's power to make or break a hero. The story follows the life of national football hero Otello whose marriage to a pop star sparks a media frenzy before he becomes wrongly-implicated in a scandal - resulting in his life spiralling into destruction.Mal's first novel, Keeper, won the Branford Boase Award and the Smarties Book Award. His second book, Tamar, was the winner of the 2005 Carnegie Medal.Exposure, published by Walker Books, is available at bookshops priced £7.99.
