At the event there will be experts offering family history information, advice on looking after family documents, as well as BSL signed stories and Christmas carols.

There will also be decoration and Christmas card making with mince pies and hot drinks. Interpreters will be present.

Councillor Roger Croad, cabinet member with responsibility for heritage, said: "We are very fortunate to have Devon Record Office with its wealth of information.

"The office remains hugely popular and events like these just go to show the office is open and accessible to everyone."
