Following the news that an ancient oak tree has fallen down in Phear Park, my thoughts are that a wood sculpture should be made from part of the tree and placed in the park - provided, of course, that it is not the target of any mindless vandals who might see it as an object to be defaced with graffiti. This tree has been part of Exmouth for over two centuries and it would be nice to think that something of it could remain to remind local people that it once stood there.
