Fairtrade goes bananas at Exmouth Carnival

EXMOUTH carnival procession on Saturday October 10 will highlight the work of the town's Fairtrade supporters.

EXMOUTH carnival procession on Saturday October 10 will highlight the work of the town's Fairtrade supporters.

Members of the Exmouth Fairtrade Town steering group will be dressing up for the event, to raise awareness of the plight of poor producers across the globe.

Group spokesman Peter Brain said: "The aim of the UK Fairtrade Foundation is to have 50 per cent of all bananas in the UK certified Fairtrade by 2011 - at present it's around 30 per cent.
