In response to Mary Wise's letter regarding Stagecoach, I sympathise! I share her annoyance at standing on single-decker buses in the evenings and the timetable occasionally accurate.

In addition to a questionable service for commuters, there is the recent eight per cent increase in fares. How can this be justified in this economic climate?I earn just above the minimum wage and have not had a pay rise for over a year. My fare to and from work is more than 10 per cent of my daily net income. How is this fair for those of us in the South West who earn below the national average wage?I understand in London it is possible to get to and from work for as little as 1 each way and travelling the same distance as from Exmouth to Exeter - and earnings are far greater in the London area! I have to work and I have to be able to get to and from work by public transport. It is very frustrating to feel I have no choice here - apart from moving to London!Peter Huxtable, Exmouth.
