BRIXINGTON Primary School youngsters last week teamed up with group of adults from Bystock Court, in Exmouth, to plant ten different varieties of apple trees.
A Brixington school spokeswoman said: "These trees, which will form an orchard in our school grounds, were given to us by Eric Howard as a leaving gift to the school when he retired as headteacher last year.
