An Exmouth woman has been presented with the Chairman’s Cup for Achievement after clearing and redesigning an allotment she took over 18 months ago.

Janet Cuff, 67, of Hamilton Lane, was given the award at the Exmouth and District Allotment Association annual general meeting at Exmouth Town Hall.

She said: “I’m very pleased as it took a lot of work and it’s nice to be recognised.”

Janet took over the patch in August 2013 after the previous occupant could not manage it anymore.

She said she already had a patch of her own next to it and felt it just made sense to take it over.

Janet also said her advice to anyone wishing to take up an allotment was to take it “bit by bit”.

Anyone wishing to take an allotment patch should go to Exmouth Town Hall and pick up an application form.
