A 31-year-old sales professional from Exmouth is busy training in preparation of taking part in next year's London Marathon, to raise money for the MS Society.
Cate Barnett, of Broadmead, decided to compete in the event on behalf of her step dad, Michael Loxey, who suffers from the condition.
"I've started training for the marathon, and have shin splints at the moment as a result," she said. "I am gradually trying to build up my stamina. I need to raise �2000 and have around �200 so far."
Cate said she was no stranger to competing in long distance events having previously taken part in the Great South Run.
She added: "I do like to keep fit anyway.
