A number of caravans arrived at Maer Road car park last week and have been there ever since.

Landowners East Devon District Council are aiming to move on the travellers this afternoon (Monday, June 12).

Police will accompany council bailiffs as ‘standard practice’.

An EDDC spokesman said: “Our current procedure regarding travellers trespassing on land owned by the council, involves us carrying out two site visits to (a) carry out a formal welfare assessment and (b) serve an eviction notice, which states that the council will employ bailiffs to evict the recipients of the notice if they have not vacated the area within 24 hours.

“We can confirm that both these processes have been completed and we have instructed bailiffs to attend and they will be evicted this afternoon (Monday, June 12).”
