A transplant awareness event organised by an Exmouth charity champion, has broken all records for fundraising.
Steve Gazzard’s annual organ donor awareness event, in The Strand, raised more than £1,500 for the British Lung Foundation.
The event on Saturday, which is held in the memory of Steve’s daughter Sarah Wright, who died while waiting for a double lung transplant, also signed up 22 new organ donors.
There were nearly 50 stalls held at the ‘fun day with a serious message’. There was also a bouncy castle, face painting, music, a tombola and a live auction.
Steve thanked his ‘little band of merry helpers’, everyone who supported the event, adding it was a ‘really fantastic day’.
Steve will be taking part in a charity sky dive on Wednesday, August 1, to raise funds for The British Lung Foundation.
People can sponsor him by visiting his organ donor sign up event in The Magnolia Centre on Saturday (July 28) from 11am.
